Obituary

Arthur B. Dechovitz, M.D., 77, beloved husband of Kathy; also survived by 4 daughters, 6 grandchildren, his brother, many cousins and scores of cherished friends and colleagues. A 1964 graduate of Emory University School of Medicine, he continued as a resident at Northwestern Memorial and Children’s Memorial Hospital as well as serving as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics for 17 years. Arthur practiced at North Suburban Pediatrics for over 40 years followed by the last 5 years with the Pediatric Associates of West Palm Beach. Chapel service, Tuesday 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ann and Robert H. Art became our children’s physician when we moved to Illinois with our 2-yr old daughter, Miriam, and our newborn son, Aaron in 1970. He kept them healthy for many years until they moved out of a pediatric practice in their teens. His Southern upbringing meshed with that of my husband’s childhood in Memphis, at a similar time, and provided a sense of personal compatibility that warmed our professional contact. He was ever the gentleman, thorough, kind, and concerned. He leaves an admirable legacy .
